P173H – Maligne Lake, Alberta, Canada

Maligne Lake is a glacier fed lake in western Alberta Canada. This particular image was taken just before sunrise. I particularly like the light layer of fog on the water; which quickly vanished when the sun reached the lake. It had rained the previous day so the air was exceptionally clear.

Being early in the morning there’s a high level of contrast between the sky and the tree line in the foreground. Actually I think this complements the overall feel of the image and gives it more of a 3-D affect. If it’s not noticeable yet, I prefer images that have depth, and when printed large, makes you feel like your are there.
