P272H – Mount Rainier Reflection, Mt. Rainier National Park, WA

Here’s a view of Mt. Rainier that you don’t see often. From above Reflection Lakes on the south side of the mountain, there is a temporary pond that is only visible during the wet season. The pond dries up around May, only to be seen again in late fall or early winter. The pond is fairly well protected from heavy winds, so you often have the opportunity to get mirror reflections. On this particular evening, the sky was unusually clear with just the hint of cloud at the top of the mountain. I particularly like the scattered weathered trees in the foreground as I feel they add a bit of character and frame the image nicely.
