P135H – Oak Trees in the Stanford Hills – Palo Alto, CA

Here's a very simple scene of oak trees on a dry grassy hill. Very California. Although scenes like this are common almost anywhere away from heavy population in California, obtaining an evenly balanced grouping of trees which cover the width of my wide lens is more challenging than it might appear. This particular scene was photographed early in the morning. After finding this location, I went to it many times so I could get the correct color in the grass as it faded from green to brown during the late spring and early summer, and to get a clear morning with deep long shadows. Ordering this photo large and you begin to see the intricate detail of the grass, tree trunks and branches. Although it looks excellent at any size.
